M&Ms Colour Leaking

by carly (follow)
Easy (883)      Under 5s (592)      Science (26)      Colour Mixing (22)
This activity is a fun way to learn about colour mixing and it's cheap too. Even young children will enjoy watching while slightly older ones can talk about what they can see.

Time: 5 minutes
Age: Over 1s
Level: Easy

Materials
M&Ms in various colours
Shallow containers, such as chocolate moulds or lids
Water

Method
Place M&Ms in the containers, leave a little space between each one.
Carefully pour water into the containers.

Keep the containers steady and watch how the water leaks the colour off the M&Ms.
Observe the colour spread through the water.
Kids will also enjoy seeing what happens when the colours touch in the water.
