Ahoy mate! Here is a super fun pirate card to make and ideal for pirate party invite, thank you card or even a child's birthday card personalized with the sender's handprint. My son loved having his hand painted as I'm sure your child will as well.
Time: 10 minutes
Age: Any age
Black sharpie felt pen
Paint brush (3 of)
Any washable kid friendly paint ( red, black, white, yellow, green
tray for mixing paint
most important - your child's cute little hand
The hardest (although not too tough) part of this card is making the flesh tone paint. In your tray put a small amount of white paint, add a touch of red to make a pink colour, add a touch of yellow, then a tiny dot of green. This should give you a good colour for the pirate's face.
Mixing paint to make flesh colour for pirates face
Have card and paint ready and wet cloth to wipe child's hand. Paint the hand following the images below:
With 1st brush paint thumb and heel of hand with red paint
With 2nd brush paint middle of palm with flesh tone paint
With 3rd brush paint rest of palm and fingers black (don't skimp on the paint)
Guide your child's hand depending on age or have them place it them self on the front of the card with their thumb facing the fold of the card and press down firmly to stamp the pirates face.
This will give you a mighty fine looking pirate face with red bandana and black beard.
Allow to dry then have your child add in the pirates facial features, eye, eye patch, moustache, mouth, earring (let them be creative ) with the black sharpie felt pen
