Papier mâché is lots of fun. Click here for some great project ideas. For the paste, you can use shop-bought wallpaper paste, a mix of white PVA glue and water or try making your own paste out of flour and water. For projects with young kids, a flour and water paste is a good option as it is non toxic and cheap to make. It is surprisingly strong and dries clear. Here is how to make it.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Any age
Level: Easy

Materials
Plain flour
Water
Jar
Saucepan, spoon and pan to mix the paste

Method
Add one cup of flour to a cup of water in a saucepan and mix well.

Kids can help out mixing the first stage before heating


Once combined, add three more cups of water to the mix and put the saucepan onto a medium heat.
Heat the mix, stirring well. Keep stirring, bringing the mixture to the boil.

Allow to cool then pour into a jar.

Your flour and water paste is now ready for papier mâché projects or simply sticking pictures onto paper.
