A pocket sized native koala is the perfect gift for international friends or family members. This Australian icon is easy to make and even small children will enjoy cuddling into it's black bear nose.

Level: Easy

Take the grey felt and cut out two identical pieces in the shape of a koala. You can make it as large or as small as you like.

Identical koala bodies

Take the black felt and cut out one big bear nose, then sew it onto the grey felt in the appropriate position, using the needle and some black thread. Add two sleeping koala eyes, also using the black thread.

Sew on its nose and eyes

Using the grey thread, sew around the outside of the koala body. We used blanket stitch, however a younger child could use simple running stitch.

Leave a space for the stuffing

Leave a space at the end to insert the stuffing, then sew up the remaining hole.

Add the stuffing

Now your Aussie koala is ready to go find some trees or perhaps a comfortable eucalyptus bed. Enjoy.
