Create this scary Halloween hand to put in the middle of a trick or treat bowl or Halloween party table. It's made from plaster of Paris so needs a few days to dry before you can take it out of the rubber glove mould.

Time: 30 mins plus 2 days drying time
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Medium

Materials
Rubber washing up glove
Plaster of Paris
Old container and spoon
Long sturdy cylinder (we used a cardboard wine bottle tube but you could also try a long cylindrical vase or something similar sized)
Red paint

Method
Put the washing up glove inside the cylinder and fold the top opening of the glove up and back over the open edge of the cylinder. The rubber held tightly on ours but you could secure with some tape if needed.

Mix the plaster according to the instructions. We used 2 parts plaster to 1 part water. Use a disposable container (e.g a milk container with the top cut off) to mix the plaster. This way you can just throw out the mixing container when you are finished as you shouldn't rinse plaster down the sink.

Carefully pour the plaster into the rubber glove. Tap the base of the cylinder gently as you go to help release any bubbles.

Leave to set for at least 48 hours.
When set, lift the rubber off the edge of the cylinder.

Either peel the glove off or cut it off to reveal the plaster hand.

Dip the wrist end in red paint and turn upside down to allow the red paint to drip towards the fingers.
