Use up miscellaneous scraps of Christmas material to make these great Christmas balls to decorate the tree. Made from foam and fabric, they are not breakable and are easy for children to be involved making as a gift for grandparents!

Time: 30 minutes
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Medium

Materials
Foam balls
Scrap Christmas fabric
Fabric scissors
Utility knife
Sharpie
Table knife
Ribbon
Glue gun

Method
Divide your foam ball into segments and draw lines with a sharpie. Fewer segments will be easier for younger children.

Finished ball
We made balls with 6 and 8 segments.

Have a parent use a utility knife to cut into the foam ball along the sharpie lines.
Cut strips of fabric just larger than the segments you drew on the ball.
Place a piece of fabric over the segment on the foam ball and using the table knife, push the fabric into the cuts made by the utility knife.

Slowly work down each cut and then continue on with the next fabric. Some fabric strips will likely need to be trimmed to fit nicely.

If some of the fabric strips are a bit short, place a little hot glue on the ball, pull the fabric tight and allow to dry. Continue pushing the fabric in with the table knife.
Cut a length of ribbon long enough to create a bow and loop for hanging on the tree. The length should be at least 40 cm.
Glue the bow to the top of the ball.
