A traditional orange pomander will involve various spices and several weeks to dry. This is a much more simplified version, just using cloves to create the decorative effect. You could make several and display them in a large bowl as a table centrepiece or wrap them with ribbon and hang on your Christmas tree.

Time: 20 - 30 minutes (it depends on how complicated your design is and how many cloves it involves)
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's

The cloves smell amazing and so festive as you pierce them into the orange

Materials
Thick skinned orange
Skewer or toothpick
Handful of cloves
Ribbon if you want to hang your pomander

Method
First think about your design. Do you want to keep it simple or try something more adventurous?
Use a skewer or toothpick to poke holes in the skin of the orange at every point you want to have a clove.

Insert the cloves in each hole in the orange, using the long stick part to poke in.

If you want to hang your simple orange pomander then you'll need a ribbon and consider where it will go when you're making your design.

Wrap around the orange, twist at the bottom and bring back up to the top and tie.

Wrap a ribbon around the orange in both directions and then it's ready to hang.
