This is a fun activity for older children to build their fine motor strength and express their creativity.

Time: 20 minutes
Age: 5-10s
Level: Medium

Paper bag
Cellophane and crepe paper to decorate

Put your hand inside the paper bag, and work the bag to make a rectangle shape at the base. Fold down the flaps and press the bag on the table, reinforcing the new rectangle base.

Stand the bag upright on the table.

Use scissors to cut strips part way down the bag on all sides.

Place one hand around the bag, just below the cut section. Now twist the bag into a tree trunk, while holding the base steady with your other hand.

Twist your tree until it is standing in a way you are happy with.

Use your fingers to twist each strip into a branch. This activity works all the muscles in your child's hands.

Cut strips of cellophane and crepe paper, twist the strips around the branches to decorate the tree.
