In a recent bout of windy weather, my daughter decided she wanted to make a 'kite'. This is a pretty simple version that children are able to make with little assistance. As there isnít lots of string to get caught up in, it wont get caught up in any trees. It is a great way to teach kids about weather conditions and how wind can pick up objects and help them fly!

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Medium

One windy day
A rectangular sheet of construction paper
Ribbon - at least 2 metres
Strong sticky tape
Pencils/textas or crayons for colouring

Take your sheet of construction paper and draw a picture or colour in if desired.
Fold corners in to create a diamond shape.

Lay your ribbon vertically along the middle of the paper where it is folded and securely tape down the folds and ribbon.

Run outside and let the wind pick the kite up and help it to fly, fly, fly!
