These bookmarks are easy to make and most importantly are sure to stay in place. Most of the time, bookmarks easily fall off or get lost. This is a useful craft to prevent this from ever happening again. These ribbon bookmarks can be customised and are also great for securing books. They require few materials and simple sewing skills. These are definitely a great gift for readers and can also be used to personalise journals or diaries.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Over 10 (with parent's help with sewing)
Level: Easy

Materials
Ribbon
Large button
Hair tie
Needle
Thread
Scissors

Method
Cut your ribbon to a suitable length by measuring ribbon around your book or diary and roughly cut where the two ends meet.
Sew the button to one end securely, hiding the end underneath.
Making a loop on the other end, place the hair tie in and sew to loosely secure the tie, hiding the end underneath.
Your bookmark is now ready to be used. Secure with the tie around the button.
