3D Paper Turtle

3D Paper Turtle

Posted 2014-05-28 by Vanessa Mfollow
This cute 3D turtle is easy to make and only uses materials kids are guaranteed to have lying around anyway.

Time: 30 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pencils
  • Something to help you create a circle (either a compass or a round object)

  • Method
  • Draw a circle on your piece of paper.

  • Add the head, legs and tail details to the outside of the circle. There should be extra space between the tail and one of the legs, which will be lost when you turn the shell into a bit of a cone.

  • Draw a wedge in the wide space between the tail and a back leg.

  • In hindsight my wedge should have been bigger

  • Draw some shapes onto the shell.

  • Colour it all in.

  • Cut out the turtle, including a slit along one of the lines making up the wedge.

  • Glue the blank wedge flap to the underside of the shell, creating a raised point in the middle of the turtle's shell.
