Watch out the aliens are coming

After weeks of glorious sunshine, the effect of hurricane Bertha dissipating over the Atlantic left me with two kids in need of entertainment on a very wet and rainy day in England. We made these little alien straw shooters.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Paper
Crayons
Straws
Sticky tape

Method
Start by drawing some aliens on lightweight paper. They need to be quite small as they will sit on the end of a straw.

Younger kids can draw their own or just scribble on paper and an adult can add features.
Cut out the aliens.
Make a little pocket from a piece of paper that will fit around the straw. Tape it together on 3 sides, leaving only one end open to pop over a straw.

Stick an alien to a paper pocket and slip over a straw.
Blow hard through the straw and watch the alien shoot off.

It doesn't have to be aliens, you could draw animals, insects or aeroplanes.
