Homemade decoupage napkin rings

These napkins rings are simple to make and cost very little. They're a great way to make a table set for dinner look extra special.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: 5 - 10s and Over 10s
Level: Easy

Keep paper from presents and reuse

Materials
  • Toilet roll tube
  • PVA or decoupage glossy glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Thin wrapping paper, tissue paper or specialist decoupage paper

  • Method
  • Ask an adult to slice your toilet roll tube into rings.

  • A bread knife works well to slice through the toilet roll

  • Cut your paper into different sized pieces, thin pieces work best.

  • Glue an area of the ring and place on a piece of paper.

  • Smooth it gently from the inside to outside.
  • Apply a little more glue over the top.
  • Repeat with more paper, making sure you overlap and cover each piece with glue.
  • Leave to fully dry.

  • If you're making these to give as a present, you could match to a colour scheme or pick a theme like Christmas. You can even cut out patterns from paper and paste those over the top.
