Time: 5 minutes per card
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Card stock for base of the card cut in quarters.
Various colours of construction paper. We used the traditional red, white and pink.
Foam hearts
Jewel heart stickers
Googly eyes
Scissors
Glue
Black felt pen

Method
For younger children, it is easier to pre cut the heart shapes that will be used. I cut larger hearts for the cat and lion head and smaller hearts for inside of the lion face.

both cards

Print out your valentine sayings. A good label size for a quarter piece of card stock is about 3.5 cm by 7 cm.

both cards

To create the lion card: Glue on your valentine saying. Cut the "mane" from a small heart and paste to the larger heart. Cut the mane from the larger heart and then paste to your card. Use a foam heart for the nose and mark the eyes with a felt pen.

To create the cat card: Glue on your valentine saying. Glue on the largest heart and then paste foam hearts for the ears. Paste on the smaller jewel heart for the nose, googly eyes and draw on whiskers.

Use up scrap material, felt, foam or scapbook paper to create the hearts and see how many different kinds of animals you can create!
