Aussie Animals Collector Cards 3D Scene
My daughter has been avidly collecting the Woolworths Aussie Animals collector cards that are given out when you buy groceries there. We have ended up with lots of duplicate cards. Here's an idea of an activity to do with the spares. We made a sea scene. However you could make a background to match any of the environments - bush, backyard, mountain ranges etc.
Time: 15 minutes
Age: Any age
Level: Easy
Materials
Aussie Animals collector cards
Cardboard strips that are left when you open up the card packs
Cereal box
Crayons and paint
Scissors
Method
Save the cardboard strips which are left when you open up the collector card packs. Cut each strip in half.
Save the cardboard strips
Cut a slit in the middle of the cardboard strip piece, stopping before you reach the edge.
Cut a matching slit in the middle of the base of the collector card.
You can now slot the card into the cardboard base. The card will now stand up.
Cut the back and bottom sides off the cereal boxes get a rectangle with 2 folded edges.
Decorate your scene. We used oil pastels to draw some seaweed and then painted over with a blue wash (diluted paint). The oil pastels resist the paint and show through.
Decorating the backdrop
When your scene is dry, fold the sides flaps so that you can stand it up. Arrange your 3D cards in front of the backdrop.
Backdrop ready to stand up and add the cards
