A fun counting activity for the beach. You could also play this indoors on a rainy day with paper and objects found around the house or garden.

Method
Draw a series of circles in the sand.
Write random numbers above each one. You could draw the numbers into the sand or make numbers out of pebbles or shells.
ready to play
The child then collects items from the beach (shells, pebbles, seeds etc) and has to place the right number of items into the corresponding circle. (e.g. seven shells next to the number 7).

You could play indoors by drawing circles and numbers on paper and finding household objects (try pegs, small toys, tea spoons etc) to put in the circles.
