If you have a Star Wars fan in your house, try making one of these easy light sabers! Made from readily available supplies, they would be great for a Star Wars birthday party too!

Time: 5 minutes per wand
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

  • Bubble wand
  • Heavy craft paper
  • Double sided tape
  • Regular tape
  • Glue
  • Scrap red paper
  • Single hole punch
  • Glow stick

  • Method
  • Make your light saber handle. As all bubble wands are a little bit different in size, it is best to make your own template to ensure the correct size. We choose to use light grey heavy paper and used a black sharpie to make the marks on the handle.

  • Our handles are 10 cm by 6.5 cm.

  • If you want to make more than one light saber, scan your image and then digitally paste the image into a windows label document. I was able to get 8 handles onto my paper. Print out as many sheets as you need on the craft paper.
  • Cut out the handles and cut strips of double sided tape to adhere to the handle of your bubble wand. Put a piece of regular tape along the back seam of your handle.
  • Punch out red dots from the scrap red paper using your hole punch.
  • Glue the dots onto your handles.

  • Let dry and then your bubble light sabers are ready to use!
  • Once all the bubble solution is gone, make an illuminated light saber.
  • Remove the handle and cut off the bubble wand.

  • Rinse the container part where the bubble solution was and wipe off excess water.
  • Crack a glow stick and insert into the bubble wand.
  • Put the handle back on and practice your Jedi moves with your new glowing Light Saber!

  • These are great for a birthday party favour. Simply make the handles and include a glow stick with the bubble wand for your party guests. Include instructions on how to make the glowing light sabers or direct them to this page!
