Here's an easy homemade Valentine's card that looks very impressive. We made a button heart but you could try other shapes for different occasions. Look out for big bags of mixed buttons in discount craft stores.
Time: 15 minutes plus drying time
Age: 5 to 10s, over 10s
Level: Easy
Materials
Method
Draw a heart shape on a piece of plain card and cut out. Try drawing around a cookie cutter as a template with younger kids.
Cover the heart shape with strong glue.
Cover the glue with buttons. For a neat shape, try putting small buttons around the edge first and then work into the middle. For a more quirky shape, try bigger buttons and don't worry about going over the edges.

Try a neat edge with small buttons...

... Or go for a more quirky look with an irregular edge and different colours
Allow to dry, then glue the button shape into a piece of folded plain card.
Send to a secret Valentine!
