Combine the fun of play dough with the great smell of candy canes. A great Christmas activity or super hand made gift to give!
Time: 15 minutes to prepare
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy
Materials
Playdough (see recipe below)
Peppermint extract or essential oil
Christmas cookie cutters or other playdough tools
Candy Cane Playdough tags (if desired)
Make your favorite playdough or use the following recipe.
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/4 c. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. cream of tartar
5 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 1/2 cups flour
Mix all ingredients together and heat over low heat. Keep mixing until the dough gets sticky and appears to be drying on the side of the pot.
Fold out on parchment paper or a cutting board. Knead until smooth.
Add peppermint extract or essential oil for desired smell. Knead into the dough.
Add silver or white glitter to your white dough if you
wish
Add red colouring and red glitter to the other half of the dough. Knead until mixed well.
Get out the playdough toys and Christmas cookie cutters and play!
If you wish to give Candy Cane Playdough away as a gift, take a small ball of each of the red and white dough. Roll out into a long worm shape.
Twist the red and white worms together.
Put into a bag or jar and ad a label.
Gift to a neighbour or friend!
