Cardboard Tube 3D Butterfly Picture

Create a fun 3D butterfly picture by recycling cardboard tubes. We also used the same technique to make a 3D flower picture.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Cardboard tube
Coloured picture
Glue
Tissue paper

Method
Squash the cardboard tube, pressing down the edges.
Cut four 1cm slices off the end of the squashed rectangle for the wings.
For the body, cut another 1cm slice off the end of the squashed rectangle. Cut along one of the folds to open out and bend back the ends to make antennae.

Spread glue on the coloured paper and arrange the body and four wings in a butterfly shape.

Scrunch up coloured tissue paper and fill the wings.
