Cereal Play Kitchen

Cereal Play Kitchen

Posted 2013-09-20 by carlyfollow
Bring your play kitchen to life by adding some cereal for children to pour, measure, scoop and nibble on.

Time: 5 minutes to prepare
Age: Under 5s and 5 to 10s
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Some of your own pots, cake tins and utensils.

  • Children's kitchen toys and equipment.

  • A packet of your choice of cereal. I like rice pops, because my children like to add water and listen to them snap crackle and pop.
  • A table cloth or sheet to lay on the ground and catch the fallen cereal for easy tidying up
  • A dish or trough
  • Some tables and play kitchen ovens, cupboards etc

  • Method
  • Lay the table cloth or sheet on the ground

  • Arrange the tables and play kitchens around the table cloth, leaving space in the middle for the dish or trough.
  • Leave plenty of space for children to walk around their kitchen.
  • Arrange pots, pans and utensils on the furniture.

  • Fill the dish or trough with cereal.

  • Invite your children to cook in their kitchen. Use this opportunity to teach them counting, measuring and volume.
