Chia Seeds and Nut Chocolate Brownies

Sneaking in healthy ingredients in kids snacks is always challenging. I have adapted this brownie recipe and given it a healthy twist whilst not compromising on the taste. Kids can enjoy helping to make these.

Time: 10 minutes preparation, 30 minutes cooking.
Age: Over 10's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • 10 tbsp soft butter or olive oil
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup cooking chocolate
  • 1 cup brown sugar or raw sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 heaped tbsp white chia seeds
  • 2 heaped tbsp chopped nuts or almond meal

  • Method


  • Mix cooking chocolate, butter, cocoa, sugar, salt over low heat in a bowl.

  • Mix just until it is warm not hot.

  • Add the eggs and mix.


  • Add vanilla extract.


  • Add the plain flour and mix again.


  • Lastly add the chai seeds and nuts.


  • Grease a non-stick pan and pour the mixture in it.


  • Bake for 30 mins at 170 degrees celsius.


  • Cut into slices and store in an air tight container.
