Mosaics are a fun way to create images or patterns. Pushing small beads into air dry clay is a simple way that kids of all ages can join in. Younger kids can make a random pattern, while older children will enjoy creating their own pictures.

Creating mosaics has a long history. Why not search for some images of ancient designs on line and discuss with your children.

Time: 10 minutes
Age: Any Age
Level: Easy

Materials
Air dry clay
Small beads

Method
Roll out some air drying clay, leaving it thick enough so that beads can be fully pushed in and won't pop through the other side.



Mosaic, air dry clay


Lay out a selection of beads so that kids can choose whatever colours they like.

Push the beads into the clay to create the mosaic.

Leave to dry.
