Here's a quick but satisfying project to make a pleated fan with a wooden clothes peg handle. We decorated ours with chalk pastels on a dark background - this was a fun change from the usual crayons and paint.

Materials
Piece of dark coloured thin card or thick paper
Wooden clothes peg (dolly peg)
Spray matt varnish or hairspray
Decorate your paper using the chalk pastels. Have fun exploring making bright shapes on a dark background and smudging the chalk.
Fun with chalk pastels
Once you're happy with the design, spray with Matt varnish or hairspray to fix the chalk.
Fold the paper into a concertina.
Insert the concertina into the slit in the wooden clothes peg.
Slide the concertina into the slit in the peg to make a sturdy handle
Your fan is now ready to use.
