This is an easy alternative to using a traditional paintbrush. With only a few materials it's also quick to clean up afterwards.

Method
Squirt some different colour paint out.
Let your child pluck out a cotton bud (good for developing the pincer grip).
Paint or dot the paper with the cotton bud. It's that simple!
My son said the dots were like little animal footprints. We had some cotton wool balls too and he really like dabbing them. He told me his picture was a bear in a cave with footprints leading in.
We also made a couple of birthday cards while we had the paint out.
For something a little more advanced, why not try a
bursting fireworks picture.
