Cotton Bud Painting

Posted 2013-08-25 by Oxford Explorerfollow
This is an easy alternative to using a traditional paintbrush. With only a few materials it's also quick to clean up afterwards.

Time: 10 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Cotton buds
  • Cotton wool balls
  • Paint
  • Paper

  • Method
  • Squirt some different colour paint out.
  • Let your child pluck out a cotton bud (good for developing the pincer grip).

  • Paint or dot the paper with the cotton bud. It's that simple!

  • My son said the dots were like little animal footprints. We had some cotton wool balls too and he really like dabbing them. He told me his picture was a bear in a cave with footprints leading in.

We also made a couple of birthday cards while we had the paint out.

For something a little more advanced, why not try a bursting fireworks picture .
