Decorated Hands

We mounted the hand shape onto black card

Making hand and foot prints with paint is often one of the first creative activities parents do with their kids. The appeal of hands and feet doesn't diminish and toddlers love anything personal. My three year old proudly showed his creation to his friends when they came to play and before I knew it, his friends wanted in on the action too. The craft box was reopened and we did feet as an alternative.

It makes a great group activity as there's not too much mess.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Paper or card
  • Scissors
  • Pens, crayons, paints or anything interesting to stick on.

  • Method
  • Place your child's hand on a piece of paper or card.

  • Draw around their hand. This is the tickly part especially if you do feet too.

  • Cut out the hand shape.
  • Your child now has an interesting shape to decorate.

  • Feet are fun too and children can compare sizes
