Decorating Cookies For Fun
This is such a fun birthday party activity for young children.
Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Easy
Materials
Vanilla sugar cookies (themed or not)
Royal icing in a few different colours
Bowls to put the royal icing into
Piping bags
Lolly decorations
Chocolate ganache
Table
Table cloth
Enough chairs for all the kids at the birthday party
Plates for everybody's works of art
Jars for lollies
Aprons if you want
Method
Make up the royal icing and put into different piping bags.
Place 3-4 cookies on each plate.
Direct the children on how to use the piping bags once you've snipped a bit at the bottom.
Make sure there is enough colours to go around.
Show an example of starting the piping on one cookie.
Pass around some piping bags and let the decorating begin.
Help children that need helping. The more colours on their cookies, the more creative the masterpiece.
The children can start putting their lolly decorations on their cookies now.
Voila. Cookie decorating, an art class, an appreciation class all in one. Now watch the faces as they devour their masterpieces.
