DIY Christmas Countdown House

DIY Christmas Countdown House

Posted 2015-11-23 by Stephanie follow
Christmas is already one month away and what a better way to start the month of December with a Christmas countdown DIY. This 'house' is made with recycled items from the house and really fun to put up. The kids will have fun poking the numbers as Christmas approaches. You still have time to save some toilet rolls until December to make this craft.

Time: 30 minutes
Age: Any Age (with parent's supervision)
Level: Medium

Materials
  • 24 toilet rolls (or 12 cut in half)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Cardboard (I used cereal boxes)
  • Brown wrapping paper
  • Black markers
  • Scissors
  • Decorative items

  • Method
  • Cut 24 squares from the wrapping papers, to fit each of the 24 toilet rolls.
  • Hot glue gun each square to each toilet roll.
  • Carefully trim the edges.
  • Write down numbers 1 to 24 on each roll.
  • Cover a rectangular piece of cardboard with the brown paper and start gluing the number '24' roll at the far end and repeatedly with the other rolls until you reach the last number '1'.
  • Cut another piece of cardboard and cover with the brown paper for the roof and hot glue to the sides.
  • Decorate the roof with sprinkles, felt shapes or stickers.
  • Once we are in December, start poking the numbers, as the days pass by.
