Easter Bunny Mask
Upcycle a breakfast cereal box and hop into Easter with this cute .
You can get fantastic results with young children if you give them an image they can decorate. If you aren't a confident drawer, then you can always use a printable instead. There are lots of free printables available on the Internet. For this , feel free to draw your own Easter Bunny face, or download the
free printable I made.
Time: 20 minutes (not including drying time)
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy
Materials
Printer
A4 sheet of white paper
1 large cereal box
Cotton wool
1 black pipe-cleaner (or more if you want longer whiskers)
Washable PVA glue
Crayons / felt-pens / pencils / paint to colour details
Sharp scissors (adult use)
Elastic
Method
Download the free printable and print it out on a piece of A4 white paper.
Cut a large panel out from the cereal box.
Glue the printable to the cardboard making sure it is as smooth as possible. Glue the printable to the plain side of the cereal box so the printed side doesn't show through the white paper.
Leave the mask to dry.
Apply glue to the outer ear, cheeks, and whiskers.
Unroll the cotton wool if necessary and glue to the outer ear and cheeks of the rabbit.
Fold the pipe-cleaner so you end up with 6 roughly equal sections. Cut the pipe-cleaner at the folds and glue down on top of the printed whiskers with plenty of glue.
Allow mask to dry again.
Colour in the rabbit mask as desired. NOTE: The glue may prevent you from colouring the mask. If your child is likely to spread the glue around, colour the mask before gluing the cotton wool and pipe-cleaner.
(Adult step) Cut the Easter Bunny mask out with scissors. Cut the rabbit's eyes out and make a hole in the sides of the mask to attach elastic (holes are marked).
Tie a knot in the end of the elastic and push it through the hole in the mask from the front of the Easter Bunny mask. Pull the elastic all the way through.
Roughly measure how much elastic is required (Hold mask up to child's head and pull the elastic around the child's head to the other side of the mask. The elastic should be stretched to ensure the mask stays in place.) and cut the elastic.
Thread the elastic through the other hole in the mask and tie another knot.
Pull the elastic back so both knots are up against the mask as much as possible.
