Level: Easy
Materials
Plain card - at least twice the size of your hand!
Pencil
Scissors
Ruler
Marker pen or felt tips
Glue
Stickers and other pieces for decoration
Materials
Method
Fold your card in half. If it is stiff, then you may find scoring it lightly will help.
Place your hand on the card so that edge below your little finger is on the fold.
Make sure your hand is on the fold
Draw round your hand with the pencil, keeping your fingers together.
Hand outline
Cut round the outline through BOTH layers of card at once. Small children may need help with this step!
Hand cut out
Fill in details of fingers and thumbs with a marker pen or a black felt tip.
Fingers drawn in
Turn the hands over and write a prayer inside. Older children may like to make up their own prayer or you could use a verse from a favourite Easter hymn.
Prayer written inside
Turn the hands back over and, using your imagination and the contents of your craft box, decorate them as you wish!
With feathers, pompoms and Easter stickers
The can now be stood in your home, ready for quiet reflections and family prayers.
Variations
Leave the outside of the hands undecorated but glue a Palm Cross on the inside left, opposite the prayer on the right, for a plain and simple Prayer Card.
Write a short prayer or blessing on the left inside and use the right inside to send an Easter Greeting to friends or family.
