My three year old loves to bake but his attention can wander. These vanilla choc chip cookies are easy to make and are ready to eat in 10 minutes. We made these together in a few spare minutes before his friends came to play.

They have a chewy consistency and were quickly devoured by kids and mums.

Time: 10 minutes prep and 10 minutes baking
Age: Any Age
Level: Easy

Ingredients
75g softened butter or margarine
75g soft dark brown sugar (you can use a light brown soft sugar for a more golden colour)
1 tbsp golden syrup
112g self raising flour
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
40g milk chocolate chips

Method
Preheat your oven to 160c.

Beat the butter, sugar and golden syrup using a wooden spoon. We started using an electric beater but found that the sugar kept flying out of the bowl but a spoon worked perfectly.
Add in the vanilla extract, flour and milk chocolate chips.

Give it all a good mix and if it's a little dry you can add a splash of water.
When the mixture starts holding together, it's ready to form into balls.

Divide the mixture into 10 pieces and then roll into balls.
Place the balls on a greased baking try.

Pop them into the oven for to bake for 10 minutes.
When you remove them from the oven, leave them to cool on the baking tray for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire wrack.
