Empty cardboard egg cartons are a great cheap and basic material to use in kids crafts. Here are three simple bugs to try.

Time: 20 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Egg cartons
Pipe cleaners
Paint
Stickers
Small pom poms
Small googly eyes

Method
For the ladybird and spider you only need one egg section of the egg carton. For the caterpillar you can use three or more if you have a large carton.

For the ladybird, paint red, stick on some black spot stickers, add a pom pom face and push through some black pipe cleaners for antennae.
Paint the spider any colour you like, make holes in the side and push through pipe cleaner legs then add features with pom poms and googly eyes.

The caterpillar is my favourite. After painting green, decorate with stickers and push through some pipe cleaners for legs.
