This is a fun activity for a group of children to do together - perfect for a rainy day! Our giant collage scene was made by three children aged 3-4 who spent almost an hour busy working on it. It was great to see them all working together and watching their creation evolve.
Time: 10 minutes to an hour
Age: Any age
Level: Easy
Materials
Long roll of paper (I used a roll of craft paper from IKEA).
Collage items, scissors and glue (e.g. coloured paper, feathers, stickers, scraps of material, Popsicle sticks, buttons etc)
Method
Roll out a long sheet of paper across the floor and secure the edges with masking tape onto the floor to stop the paper sliding about.

Ready to go
Together choose a theme for the scene and explore ideas for the picture. For example we decided on a long road with cars, people, houses, buildings and a farm.
Let the children start drawing and work out themselves how to organise their joint creation. For example, with a long piece of paper, there should be plenty of room for kids to either work on their own sections individually or on a section together.

Houses
Encourage the children to explore the different collage materials and choose what they want to use with their drawings.

The kids also decided to add leaves and flowers from the garden as well as stick on some fluffy chick in the farm
Have fun seeing how the picture and ideas evolve.

Once you're finished, try taking a panoramic photo of the creation to keep or find a long wall to display it on!
