Gumnut Teacups

Gumnut Teacups

It is great fun to collect fallen gumnuts, but how can these wonderful gifts from nature be incorporated into imaginative play? This is a good way to keep gumnuts upright and user friendly for miniature fairy or elf games. They are just the right size for little fingers to arrange around the garden.

Ready for the fairy tea party

Time: 30 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials

  • plenty of gumnuts
  • colored felt
  • strong glue
  • scissors

  • Gumnuts

    Method

  • Collect plenty of gumnuts (or some similar tiny drinking vessel - maybe even pistachio shells).

  • Circles of felt

  • Using scissors, cut small circular pieces of colored felt to fit the size gumnuts you've collected. Ours were the size of a five cent piece.

  • Glue the gumnuts to the felt

  • Use strong glue to stick the gumnuts to the felt circles.

  • Four gumnut teacups

  • Allow the glue to dry, then your fairy or elf teacups are ready for a fun tea party in the garden. Don't they look so very cute? Perhaps it's time to make some more?

  • Gumnut teacups almost there
