Handprint Butterfly

Here's an easy handprint butterfly. Both hands are used to make the print. Preschoolers will enjoy watching and feeling the different colours being painted on to their hands and seeing the colourful butterfly appear on the paper.

Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
Different coloured paints
Paper
Brush

Method
Brush different colours of paint onto a hand. Try painting each finger different colours and adding spots of different colours onto the palm. Paint the thee hand the same way, mirroring the colours and patterns used.

Press the first hand on to the page, thumb inwards, and lift to reveal half a butterfly.

Line up the other hand, thumb to thumb. The thumbs make the body and antennae so the butterfly so it looks best if the tops of the thumbs are slightly apart to make each antenna distinct.

Lift up the hand carefully to reveal a colourful butterfly.
