What can you create from a heart shape? A whole zoo! These animals were created from different colour and sizes of heart shapes. Create your own zoo, decorate a card or send a picture to someone special.

Zoo

Time: 10 minutes per animal
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Scrap Paper (construction and scrapbook would be great)
Scissors
Glue

Method
We gained our inspiration from reading "My Heart Is Like a Zoo" by Michael Hall. Our animals all came from the illustrations in his book.

Zoo

Spread out the paper and pick your animals.
Start cutting heart shapes.
Glue your heart shapes into animal creations.

Walrus

Make as many or as few animals as you want!

Be prepared for a little paper mess!

Zoo

As I was preparing the hearts for the animals, my preschoolers would count how many hearts made up each animal, which hearts were the same size and how many, what orientation the hearts were in (sideways, upside-down ect.). It was a great way to spend a crafting afternoon!
