Try making an easy homemade dice out of clay. It makes a sturdy dice with good weight. It's ideal if you want to make an unusual dice e.g. with Roman numerals or written numbers instead of traditional dots. You just need to be patient to wait for the clay to dry before you can use it for a game.
Time: 10 minutes plus 2 days drying time
Age: Any age
Level: Easy
Materials
Acrylic paint to decorate (optional)
Method
Roll a small piece of clay into a ball, then squeeze the sides flat to make a cube shape.
Allow to dry for at least 2 days.
When dry, draw numbers on the side with a permanent marker pen. The opposite sides of the dice should add up to 7. The "6" should be opposite the "1". The "5" should be opposite the "2". The "4" should be opposite the "3".
You could try making a traditional design with spots for numbers. You could also make something more unusual by drawing Roman numerals. We went for writing the actual numbers.
Decorate further with colourful paint or varnish if you want or leave it black and white.
