I saw these cute ladybird (ladybug) magnets and could not resist making some. They are relatively easy, a nice valentine gift and practical at the same time. They require more parent involvement for the preschool age, but children over six could handle making these on their own. A great valentine gift for grandparents or teachers, they would also make a great mother's day gift as well.

Time: 15 minutes (plus drying time for paint)
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Easy

Materials
Wood heart shape
Red paint
Black sharpie or black paint
Sparkle (glitter glue, glitter spray, or glitter mod podge)
Small black button or bead
Round craft magnet
Paint supplies- brush, container, clothes
Glue

Method
Paint the wood heart shapes. We put on two coats to make sure the red colour was really deep. Let dry completely.

Use a sharpie to outline the wings and create the ladybug dots. Black paint can be used as an alternative, there is just a little bit less control and more clean up involved.

This was a parent step for us but easy enough for children over 6 to do on their own.

Brush on a layer of sparkle. We diluted glitter glue with a bit of water and brushed it on but you could mix glitter with white glue or modge podge as well.
Attach the small black button or bead for the head with glue and let dry.

Attach button

Attach the craft magnet to the back of the heart.
