Magazine Collage

Magazine Collage

Posted 2013-04-30 by Oxford Explorerfollow

Making collages from magazines can be simplified for pre schoolers. They love glue and sticking so this activity is a winner.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
  • Cardboard
  • Magazine
  • Glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Marker pen
  • Scissors

  • Method
  • Cut a magazine into different sized strips or let your child rip up pieces. My son isn't quite 3 yet so while the ripping was fun the pieces were a bit too scrunched to use.

  • Cut strips of magazine for younger kids and let slightly older children rip their own into different sized pieces. You could also use coloured paper

  • Use a piece of cardboard for the base ( we used a piece of a cereal box).
  • Let your toddler spread glue all over the cardboard.

  • More glue please

  • Have fun sticking on strips of magazine and apply some extra glue over the top to make sure it's all stuck down.

  • Leave to dry.
  • The magazine collage makes an interesting piece of art on it's own but you could go one step further.

  • Draw an outline of anything from a simple circle to an elephant and cut it out.
