This is a fun way to teach kids how to paint with watercolours and the effects of wax on paper.

Time: 1 hr
Age: Over 10's

Materials
Cardboard
Shredded magazine or newspaper
Watercolour paints
Glue
Candle

Method
Draw your own onto sheet of cardboard then cut it out. Shred newspaper or magazine and glue under owl to make nest.

Using a candle, make small lines on the owl, like feathers.



With watercolours, paint owls chest and show how the candle wax seals the paper from paint.



Continue painting owls wing and nest.



The finished night owl perched in nest.
