Method
Draw out the shape of the eye mask on yellow felt then draw a thick band around it. This thick band will make the lion's mane. You can use a pair of children's sunglasses to help judge the right size and eye spacing.

Eye mask with an extra band for the mane
Cut an eye mask shape out of a contrasting colour of felt - I used brown.
Cut eye holes where you want the eyes to go. You will need to cut holes in both the brown and yellow layers. The holes in the yellow layer will be hidden so can be slightly bigger than the ones on the brown layer.
Glue the brown eye mask shape onto the yellow area with the mane. Let the glue dry, then peel the felt off, re-glue and press back on. This helps to get a strong bond.
Make vertical cuts into the mane area with scissors to make a fringed mane. Cut down as far as the brown face area.
Cut a nose with mouth out of black felt. (Try folding in half to get a symmetrical shape).
Glue the nose on at the base of the brown area.
Poke a hole at each side of the brown lion face with a skewer and tie a piece of thin elastic on.
Your lion mask is now ready to wear!
