This is definitely a creative activity to be done outside. My toddler was very excited when I showed him an egg box with paint filled egg shells and told him we were going to have some messy fun.

Whenever you are cooking with eggs, try to break them towards the top of the shell to leave as much intact as possible. I saved these up over a few days in advance of our messy morning fun.
Place the empty egg shells back in the egg box, open side up.
Fill the egg shells with different colours of paint.
Lay out large pieces of paper (outside is definitely the best place to do this).

Use stones to weigh down the paper so it doesn't blow away
Hand the egg box to your child and let them throw the eggs at the paper as hard as they can.
This was a really fun activity and my son then decided he wanted to pick the broken egg shells up and squish them onto another piece of paper.
This activity is all about the fun, colour mixing and sensory experience rather than the end result.
