Paper plate clown

With their big jolly faces and funny noses, clowns are a great craft to create from a simple paper plate. You could even try cutting out the eyes to make a mask or add a stick to the bottom to make a puppet.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
Paper plate
Paint
Thick wool (yarn)
Glue
Cardstock
Red balloon
Sticky tape

Method
Paint the paper plate any colour you like, the brighter the better.

Paint the paper plate all over

Cut some lengths of thick wool and glue to the top left and top right of the plate. This will make the funny hair for the clown.

Glue the wool on first as the ends will be hidden by a hat

Cut some shapes from cardstock, a hat, some eyes and a mouth so that your child can stick them on.
Partly blown up a red ballon and tie a knot.
Pierce a hole in the centre of the plate and feed the knotted end of the balloon through.

Create a hole to pass the end of the balloon through

Secure the balloon on the other side of the paper plate with some sticky tape.

You now have a fun clown face with a squidgy nose, perfect to honk.
