This is one of the most fun and messy painting activities I've tried out with my son. It involves pinging rubber bands covered in paint over a sheet of paper.

Toddler, painting, messy, preschool

Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's
Level: Easy

Materials
Baking tray
Rubber bands
Paint
Paper

Method
Wrap rubber bands around a baking tray. We ended up having quite a bit of fun at this stage, pinging the bands and listening to the different notes like a guitar.

.
Slip a piece of paper below the rubber bands.
Squirt out some paint, dip your finger in and then run it along the bands to cover them.

Ping and flick the rubber bands so that they splat on the paper below. Watch out, it's messy and goes everywhere.

Remove the paper to see what pattern you have created.
