Pipe Cleaner Glasses
Okay, I admit it: I do this activity more for myself than for the kids. They love it too, though.
Pipe cleaners are so much fun, and so versatile. Try some of these silly glasses and have some fun!
Time: 15 minutes
Age: Under 5's, 5-10's
Level: Easy
Materials
Pipe Cleaners - 4 per pair plus more for decoration.
Optional - coloured cellophane
Optional - glue gun
Method
Take two pipe cleaners for the eye rims. Bend each one into a circle, with about 1 inch left free.
Twist the two ends together.
Take two more pipe cleaners for the arms. Twist about 1 inch of length around the top of the rim on each side.
Optional lenses - cut circles of cellophane and use your glue gun to stick them to the rims.
Hot glue works well, but a tacky glue can also be used.
Cut any excess off once the glue has cooled.
Bend the arms back and curl the ends to fit around your ears. I mean, your kid's ears.
There is your basic pair of glasses. Use extra pipe cleaners to add bling, or glue buttons or pom poms on.
If you are game, try making a pipe cleaner moustache to go with your new disguise:
Bend a pipe cleaner in the middle around your finger.
Bend the two ends back out, like the picture. This is your "nose mount"
Shape your moustache ends into something awesome - curls, zig zags, droops.
Use your nostrils to secure your moustache (ewww!). Squeeze the mounts together if the moustache is too loose.
Too much fun!!
