A few colored pipe cleaners and a bit of imagination can go a long way. Here is an easy lion to create using yellow and brown pipe cleaners and nimble fingers.

Time: 15 minutes
Age: 5-10's
Level: Easy

Materials

  • 3 yellow pipe cleaners
  • 2 brown pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Black permanent marker pen

  • Method

  • Twist one yellow pipe cleaner around a pencil to form the lion's body.

  • Twist the pipe cleaner around the pencil

  • Cut the next yellow pipe cleaner into two sections, and shape them into the lion's legs.

  • Lion legs

  • Take another yellow pipe cleaner, cut it into two and attach one onto the body to form the lion's tail. Wrap the other yellow piece around a pencil to form the lion's head. Set the head to one side for now.

  • Add the tail

  • Cut one brown pipe cleaner into two pieces and wrap one around the yellow pipe cleaner to form the lion's tail. Wrap the other piece around the pencil to form the lion's mane.

  • Attach the legs and spine

  • Poke the remaining brown pipe cleaner through the middle of the lion's body, then add the mane, legs and the yellow head. Make sure you keep a bit of the brown spine poking through the head to from the nose.

  • Add the mane and body

  • Use the black permanent marker to draw two eyes, then enjoy playing animal games with your new pipe cleaner creation.
