Plastic Bottle Easter Baskets
Turn your plastic bottles into Easter baskets
I am always looking for new ways to turn rubbish into something fantastic. Here you can cake cute Easter baskets using empty plastic bottles.
Time: 15-20 minutes
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's
Level: Medium
You can make a bunny basket
Materials
Clean empty plastic 1.25 litre bottles
Scissors
Hole Punch
Pipe cleaners
Coloured paper
Feathers
Googly eyes
Craft glue
Easter stickers
Tissue paper
Or a cheeky chick
Method
Use the scissors to cut the bottom off the plastic bottle. I cut these about 10cm up from the base.
Once this is done you can punch holes on opposite sides of the plastic to attach a handle.
Then you can thread the pipe cleaner though one hole. Loop it up and on to itself then twist it a little so it stays in place. Do the same with the other side.
Now its time to decorate the basket.
You can make a bunny by drawing 2 ear shapes on coloured paper and cutting them out.
Glue the paper to each side of the basket, add some googly eyes and pipe cleaner whiskers.
A chick is also easy to make by cutting out a diamond shape from orange paper, then cutting it in half. This will be the beak shape. Glue it on to the basket along with some eyes and also feathers for the wings.
Or you can simply add stickers.
Once you have decorated the basket, then cut some tissue paper strips and place them inside. This will help protect your eggs and add some background colour.
Last Easter we made lots of these and added a few Easter eggs or wrapped chocolates to give to family and friends.
Younger kids can get Mum or Dad to do the cutting and decorate theirs with stickers
