Here's a quick and colourful craft activity to brighten the house or the garden. This uses a hot glue gun, but for some kids you may want to use PVA glue instead, just keep in mind that you'll need longer for the glue to dry.

It takes no time at all to whip up one of these flowers, so instead of making one, why not make a whole garden? We've used the coloured popsicle sticks, but if you don't have any you can always colour or paint your own.

Time: 5 minutes
Age: 5 to 10's, Over 10s
Level: Easy

Materials
5 Coloured Popsicle Sticks for the Flowers
1 Coloured Popsicle Sticks for the Stem
Glue Gun

Method
Put a small dab of glue at the top of the green popsicle stick, and attach one of your 'petals' in the middle at a 90ยบ angle to the stick.

Continue with your next popsicle sticks, glueing each one to the stick below using a small dab of glue. These two will create a skinny X.

Just a small dab of glue in the centre

Finish with the final two sticks, this time making a wider cross pattern, filling in the spaces left by the other pop sticks.

Get kids to grow a little garden with these flowers. The best bit is, they don't die when you forget to water them.
