Decorative Japanese masking tape known as 'washi tape' is such a versatile craft material, and a very popular choice with today's crafters.

Here is a craft project suitable for 5-10's and up, using washi tape to make a balloon greetings card which could be for any type of celebration - birthday, new baby (pink or blue theme), passing exams etc.

Time: 30 minutes
Age: 5-10's, Over 10's, Parent craft
Level: Medium

Materials

Washi tape, at least two types
Blank greetings card
Black pen
Scissors
PVA glue
Cardboard (cereal box will do)
Ribbon bow (optional)

Method
Draw two balloon shapes with black pen onto the back of your cardboard

Peel and rip strips of washi tape, and layer on top of your balloons, it doesn't matter if you overlap the pen line - in fact it is better if you do

You should just about see your balloon pen line through your washi tape strips, trace over the top with your pen.

Cut your balloon shapes out with scissors

Glue in place on your greetings card, overlapping your balloons looks best
If you have them, (I had some in my craft supply) glue your ribbon bows to the bottom of your balloons

Draw a squiggly line for your balloon string
