Paddington Bear comes from deepest, darkest Peru. Sent by his Aunt Lucy, he stowed away to London with nothing but a stained hat, a few marmalade sandwiches, and his suitcase. If you plan on travelling around the world (but hopefully not as a stowaway), you'll need a suitcase to put your marmalade sandwiches in too. Here is how to make your very own Paddington Bear suitcase.

Time: 2 hours (includes preparation, making, drying time, and cleaning up)
Age: Any Age
Level: Easy

Materials

Rectangular cardboard box
Brown and black paint
Paint brush
Mug of water & old rag (for cleaning brush)
Glue

Stick adhesive dots
Card
Pencil
Scissors

Method

Draw the shape of a suitcase handle on a piece of card. Make sure that the 'arms' are extra long.

Cut out the handle using scissors, and fold the 'arms' about half way.

Paint the handle black, and leave to dry.

Paint the cardboard box brown, and leave to dry.

Use black paint to write 'P.B.' on the front of the box.

Stick the adhesive dots to the bottom 'arms' of the handle, then stick the handle to the top of the suitcase (you can also use glue or cellotape, but they will need to be strong if you want to be able to pick it up by the handle).
